About Us
Who we are
Farmrail System, Inc. is a proudly employee‑owned rail provider delivering dependable, community‑focused transportation solutions across Western Oklahoma. As the parent company of two Class III common‑carrier railroads, Farmrail operates under the banner of “Western Oklahoma’s Regional Railroad,” serving as a vital logistics partner for the industries and communities that power the region.
For more than four decades, Farmrail Corporation (FMRC) has been a trusted operator for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, managing an 82‑mile east–west corridor between Weatherford and Erick. In 2013, Farmrail strengthened its commitment to regional service with the purchase of an 89‑mile line between Westhom and Elmer—following 20 successful years of operation under state lease.
To expand rail access and enhance network connectivity, Farmrail created Grainbelt Corporation (GNBC) in 1987. This strategic acquisition of 178 miles of former Burlington Northern track established an essential north–south link between Enid and Frederick, supporting agricultural producers, industrial customers, and commercial shippers throughout the region.
Farmrail System, Inc. extended its reach beyond Oklahoma in 1996 through a joint-venture interest in Finger Lakes Railway (FGLK), a 130-mile network of lines serving communities in upstate New York.
In a separate initiative, the company committed in 2026 to rehabilitate and operate a dormant 37-mile rail line between Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Kansas through its newly formed subsidiary, Land Rush Rail (LRRC).
Additional growth and diversification efforts have included securing a major industrial switching assignment for a public utility and establishing a subsidiary dedicated to providing contracted track maintenance services for third parties.
